Abstract:

The present study explores the potential benefits of integrating yogic breathing techniques into cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) programs, with a focus on its implications for stress reduction and anxiety management. By employing randomized controlled trials (RCTs), we aim to evaluate the effectiveness of this novel treatment approach and examine any associated changes in patients' physiological responses using heart rate variability (HRV) metrics as an indicator. We hypothesize that yogic breathing, when combined with traditional CBT strategies, will enhance therapeutic outcomes for individuals suffering from high levels of stress and anxiety disorders.

Introduction:

Cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) is widely regarded as an effective psychotherapeutic intervention in the management of various mental health conditions, including anxiety and depression [1]. However, despite its successes, traditional CBT techniques sometimes fall short when addressing acute stress responses or chronic anxiety disorders. Consequently, there is a growing interest among researchers to explore alternative strategies that could complement existing therapeutic practices.
